East Wales Road Race Championship 2020

     
What is the East Wales Clubs Road Race Championship?
A series of road races for running clubs affiliated to Welsh Athletics within the East Wales region.
 
Which running clubs are eligible?
All Welsh Athletics affiliated running clubs within the East Wales region.
 
Which are the races?
The 2020 championship will consist of four races:
 
Race 1) The Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon : Sunday 1st March 2020
 
Race 2) Cardiff 5K - Race For Victory : Saturday 9th May 2020
 
Race 3) Mic Morris Torfaen 10k : Sunday 12th July 2020
 
Race 4) Brecon Lions 10 mile : August 2020 (exact date to be confirmed)
 
How do clubs/runners enter the championship?
All Welsh Athletics affiliated running clubs within the East Wales region are automatically entered into the championship.
Runners should enter the four nominated races in the usual way.
When entering the races, runners should include the name of the running club they are a 1st claim member of.
All runners of eligible East Wales region running clubs will then automatically be entered into the championship.
How will championship results for each race be processed ?
The full results of each race produced by the race organisers will be reprocessed to include runners of East Wales clubs only.
Using results for runners of East Wales clubs only, points will be awarded to those runners only.
Individual runners’ points will be accumulated to produce a club team total points score.
 
What are the club team categories?
1) Club Team category; all runners irrespective of gender; i.e. can be all male, or all female or any mix of male & female runners.
There will be Club ‘A’ , ‘B’ and ‘C’ Team divisions.
 
2) Club Female Team category; female runners only.
There will be Club Female ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ Team divisions.
 
How will the points scoring for each race work?
The first runner of an eligible East Wales club will be awarded 1000 points, second will be awarded 999 points, third will be awarded 998 points, and so on etc., all eligible runners will be awarded points.
Separately, the first female runner of an eligible East Wales club will also be awarded 1000 points, second female will be awarded 999 points, third female will be awarded 998 points, and so on etc., all eligible female runners will be awarded points.
 
How will team scoring for each race work?
Club ‘A’ team score will be the total points scored by the top 6 runners, any gender, for each club,
Club ‘B’ team score will be the total points scored by runners 7~12, any gender, for each club.
Club ‘C’ team score will be the total points scored by runners 13~18, any gender, for each club.
The Club ‘A’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
The Club ‘B’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
The Club ‘C’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
 
How will club female team scoring for each race work?
Club female ‘A’ team score will be the total points scored by the top 6 female runners for each club.
Club female ‘B’ team score will be the total points scored by female runners 7~12 for each club.
Club female ‘C’ team score will be the total points scored by female runners 13~18 for each club.
The club female ‘A’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
The club female ‘B’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
The club female ‘C’ team with the highest points score will be awarded 30 team points, second will be awarded 29 points, third will be awarded 28 points and so on.
 
How will championship scoring work?
Team points from each of the four races will be added together to produce a club team championship score.
 
What awards will be presented?
Club ‘A’ teams with the highest, second highest and third highest club team championship score will be awarded championship trophies.
Club ‘B’ team with the highest club team championship score will be awarded a championship trophy.
Club ‘C’ team with the highest club team championship score will be awarded a championship trophy.
Club female ‘A’ teams with the highest, second highest and third highest club team championship score will be awarded championship trophies.
Club female ‘B’ team with the highest club team championship score will be awarded a championship trophy.
Club female ‘C’ team with the highest club team championship score will be awarded a championship trophy.
 
Will individual runners receive awards?
No, the East Wales Clubs Road Race Championship will present awards to club teams only.
There could possibly be other championships included within the same races to award individuals, but these will not be part of the East Wales Clubs Road Race Championship.
 
Will awards be presented for each individual race?
No, the East Wales Clubs Road Race Championship will only present awards based on the total score of the four championship races.
There could possibly be other championships included within the same races to award teams for each race, but these will not be part of the East Wales Clubs Road Race Championship.
 
Is it possible for a runner to score for more than one club during the course of a championship series?
No, if a runner has scored points for an East Wales club in any of the four races, and they then transfer to another East Wales club, they will not score points for that club in any remaining races of the championship series.
